I teach philosophy at Heinrich Heine University
Düsseldorf. My core interests lie in various areas of theoretical philosophy and in the teaching and learning of philosophy at universities, in secondary schools, and in
the public sphere.
My current activities include:
-
leading the academic teaching project project "Kontroversen begleiten mit Argumentlandkarten" (Supporting Debates with Argument Maps),
-
co-leading the DFG-project "Kognitiv-Rationale
Rekonstruktion" (Cognitive-Rational Reconstruction),
-
acting as Geschäftsführer (Managing Director) of the
German Society for Analytic Philosophy (Gesellschaft für analytische Philosophie e.V., GAP),
-
taking part in the interactive
public philosophy project "denXte", mainly as creator, coordinator and co-host of the podcast "mitgedacht",
- co-running "LehrGut", a (mainly German) Blog for topics in the teaching and learning of philosophy at
universities, as one of the founders and editors, as well as
- leading the DFG-netzwork "Argumentieren in der
Schule" (Argumentation in Secondary Schools).
Earlier, I worked at Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena,
at Goethe-Universität Frankfurt, at Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster and at Freie Universität Berlin. This is also where I received my doctorate and my master's degree, after a
year as a Visiting Graduate Student at Stanford University.
